
Academic ethics
There is no doubt that academic and professional ethics are broad concepts that include respect for the work of others, the ability to communicate and collaborate with others.
The concept of academic ethics at our University encompasses the unity of study, science, human and animal health, professionalism, academic freedom and autonomy in recognising, upholding and fostering justice, fairness, respect for human beings, tolerance, professional, scientific and civic responsibility, the pursuit of truth, academic freedom and creating an atmosphere conducive to trust and creativity within and outside the University.
Academic ethics are important because they serve:
- creating an atmosphere of academic freedom and trust at the University;
- establishes the main provisions of the relations between the members of the University community and their behaviour (which are not directly regulated by international and national codes of ethics, state laws, the Statute of the University and other internal documents).
The students are required to adhere to the following ethical principles and obligations:
- Respect and equality
Students shall act with respect, professionalism, and regard for human rights and ideas. All members of the University community are considered equal, entitled to the same rights and responsibilities, and are subject to the same University regulations. - Freedom of thought and expression
Students have the right to express their views freely and pursue academic interests of their choice, while respecting the rights of others. The University fosters a culture of openness, integrity, and constructive dialogue. - Equality, diversity, and social inclusion
All community members are equal, regardless of individual characteristics or beliefs. Diversity, the culture of equal opportunities are fostered, and discrimination or violence are not tolerated. - Responsibility
Students carry out their duties with responsibility, integrity, and ethical consideration. They strive for excellence and contribute positively to the University’s reputation. Activities that may present conflicts of interest or compromise the University’s image shall be avoided. - Academic integrity
Whether studying, teaching, or conducting research, members of the University community uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, respect intellectual property, avoid plagiarism or data falsification, and engage in respectful collaboration. - Transparency, integrity, and compatibility of interests
Community members avoid conflict of interest, act transparently, with integrity, do not abuse their position or power. They reject corruption or gifts, acting objectively and responsibly. - Privacy and confidentiality
Students respect personal privacy and protect confidential information about the University activity and community members. - Solidarity and compassion
Community members collaborate, support one another, and care for emotional well-being as well as a safe study, work, and research environment. The University prioritizes the safety and health of its community. - Protection of personal data and intellectual property
Community members of the University are responsible for the protection of personal data and intellectual property, ensuring their protection, confidentiality, and lawful handling. - Sustainability and social responsibility
Students shall use the University resources responsibly, protect the environment, and use the resources for work- and studies-related purposes. Responsible cooperation with other institutions and respect for diversity are encouraged. - Digital ethics and communication
Community members adhere to academic ethics and professionalism in the virtual environment, ensuring cybersecurity, personal data protection, and accountability in the use of artificial intelligence.
