Preclinical Research Centre

The aim of the Centre’s activity is to coordinate and carry out preclinical research.

Functions of the Centre:

  • conduct preclinical research;
  • in cooperation with the departments of Kaunas Clinics of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Hospital and Kaunas Clinical Hospital, which are responsible for the coordination and execution of clinical trials, to contribute to the conduct of clinical trials according to their competence;
  • periodically perform an analysis of preclinical research market needs and distribution, based on it, prepare, and improve marketing plans in cooperation with university departments;
  • in cooperation with the University departments and the departments of the Kaunas Clinics Hospital of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and Kaunas Clinical Hospital, responsible for the coordination and execution of clinical trials, to initiate and organise the attraction of orders for the performance of preclinical trials;
  • develop cooperation with national and international institutions in the fields of preclinical and clinical research;
  • develop cooperation with national and international institutions in the fields of preclinical and clinical research;
  • initiate, prepare, and implement projects related to pre-clinical research according to national and international programmes.

Preclinical research includes bioactivity/toxicity and other research in cells, tissues, organoids, organ model systems and animals. The centre also conducts consultations on the planning/execution of preclinical research.
