Emergency medical aid can be provided at the Emergency Department of LSMU Kaunas Clinics. Even if you are not a Lithuanian citizen, we are here to help you in critical situations. If the condition or injuries are not critical, please contact the healthcare services listed in the contacts

Life-Threatening Conditions

If you or someone else experiences the following symptoms/episodes, call 112 immediately.

  • Suspected heart attack or stroke
  • Severe chest pain
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Significant blood loss
  • Suspected bone fracture
  • Deep wounds (e.g., stab wounds)
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Head injuries

If you are unsure whether to go to the emergency department or the emergency takes place at night or on weekends, always call the provided phone numbers, and you will receive all the necessary information.

If the situation is not critical, but you believe you should still be seen by a doctor, call the provided phone numbers. Specialists will assess your situation over the phone and advise you on further actions to take.

Minor injuries

If you have sustained a minor injury or are unwell but not in immediate danger, you can apply to the nearest primary healthcare facility, where you will receive first aid for minor head injuries, cuts, burns, etc.

If you have experienced minor sprains or suspect bone fracture, you can go to the Trauma Unit at LSMU Kaunas Hospital, which operates 24/7, including holidays.

The medics at Kaunas District Ambulance Station are prepared and available 24/7 to provide emergency medical aid to residents and guests of our district.
When calling the Ambulance Station, the caller will be asked by the dispatcher the following questions:
• Provide the address and location of the incident as accurately as possible.
• Provide a phone number (to verify information or re-establish contact if the call is interrupted). 
• What happened? (conscious/unconscious, symptoms of illness or injury, complaints).
• How many injured or patients are there?
• Patient’s age, gender.
• Name and surname (if known).
• What potential dangers are present? (pets, aggressive environment, aggressive patient, etc.).
• Who is calling for help? Identify yourself.
Please speak clearly, coherently, and understandably and do not hang up the phone until you have heard the dispatcher’s instructions on providing first aid until the arrival of the emergency medical team.
• In the case of an emergency call, the emergency medical team is activated as early as during the conversation.
