10 application steps

Applicants are recommended to apply as early as possible. Applications submitted after the deadline could be considered only in case of available study places in a certain degree programme. Applications for all study programmes in English must be submitted online.

For your benefit: 

  • No application fee for the first review of your application and feedback on eligibility;
  • Feedback within 72 hours from submission of your application;
  • Possibility to choose the time for your entrance test;
  • Results of the entrance test are provided on the next day after the test.

Visit https://apply.lsmuni.lt and register as a new applicant. After completion of this step, your personal account will be created and you will receive an applicant’s code which provides you access to the application form.

Log in using your code and start up filling the application form online. You may save the data at any time and continue later. This applies both to the information entered into the text fields and to the uploaded electronic copies of documents (see ‘Documents to be uploaded’). The system will automatically check your application and reveal the incomplete issues. After completion of application form, please do not forget to click on SUBMIT, because only SUBMITTED applications will be considered by the University.

1. Matriculation / School Leaving Certificate approved by the governmental authorities (see below “Legalization of Education Documents”) in English or an authorized translation into English.

2. Transcripts of high school/ senior secondary school verifying successful completion of Biology and Chemistry. For Health Psychology study programme – Mathematics and Biology;

1. Bachelor’s Degree Diploma (university’s level) approved by the governmental authorities (see below “Legalization of Education Documents”) in English or an authorized translation into English. More detailed description of the required educational documents is provided online.

2. Transcript of Academic Records provided directly from the former university (if it was issued in any other language than English, an authorized translation into English must be provided);

3. Score Reports on the BMAT, MCAT, IMAT, NEET Subject Tests in Chemistry (for Health Psychology – Mathematics) and Biology, if available;

4. Certificate proving the knowledge of English: TOEFL – minimum 65 points (iBT); IELTS – above 5.5 points; the certificate confirming the knowledge of a foreign language at minimum B2 level (CEFR) or similar.

5. Motivation letter;

6. Passport or ID;

7. One passport-type photograph (3×4 cm);

NOTE If the documents were issued in any other language than English, an authorized translation into English must be provided

 


The submitted application will be reviewed and you will be contacted within 72 hours after submission of the application. You will receive one of the following:

  • Feedback – additional information is required;
  • Positive feedback – your application has been reviewed; you may continue with application procedure and university will continue with recognition of your educational background according to the enrolment criteria.
  • Not qualified – the provided documents are not acceptable for admission to the university.


Once you have received positive feedback, an invoice for the application fee of 150 EUR (non-refundable) will be issued and should be paid following the deadlines indicated in the invoice. Failure to pay the fee on time will result in stopping your admission procedure.

The entrance test has two steps: the interview and the test composed of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in Biology and Chemistry (30 questions each). The applied curriculum is the same as used in a senior secondary (high) school. If needed, the test of English language will be given after Biology and Chemistry test. Results of the entrance test are provided on the next day after the test.

Based on the results of entrance test, your application will be marked with one of the following:

  • OFFER LETTER Issued when the following admission steps are successfully completed:
    • education certificates have been checked and recognized as acceptable for admission at university.
    • the motivation interview and/or the entrance test have been successfully passed.
  • WAITING LIST Your result was not among the best results of the applicants who took the entrance test with you. That means you are competing with other applicants. The higher is your score the bigger is the chance to be enrolled. During last week of each month University reviews the Waiting List and in case of availability may change the status of your application.
  • FAILED End of application process. You have failed the entrance test.  We recommend you to improve your knowledge and try next year.

    Exemptions from the entrance test are provided below.

Once you completed the above-mentioned procedures successfully and received the Offer letter, an invoice for the registration fee of 250 EUR (non-refundable) will be issued and should be paid following the deadlines indicated in the invoice. Failure to pay the fee on time will result in stopping your admission procedure. Your application status will be changed into ACCEPTED after reception of registration fee payment.

Study Contract is issued to you following the acceptance of University Offer and payment of the registration fee of 250 EUR. Study contract is emailed to you and must be signed electronically following the deadlines. You will also be informed about the emailed Study Contract on your online application with the Dean’s letter about the deadlines for signing the Study Contract and payments. Copy of the signed Study Contract must be uploaded to your online application. Failure to sign the Study Contract on time will result in stopping your admission procedure.

Deposit of 1000 EUR (non-refundable) is a part of the tuition fee. First-year tuition fee must be paid following the terms and conditions of the signed Study Contract. Failure to pay the payments on time will result in stopping your admission procedure.

  • According to the latest Migration Regulations, all non-EU students MUST apply for a TRP before coming to study. From 1 July 2023 full time students CAN NOT apply for a national visa D.
  • All foreigners wishing to obtain a temporary residence permit Lithuania (TRP) must submit their applications in 34 different foreign countries at the VFS Global.
  • VFS Global offices services are available to all foreign nationals legally present in the country where a such services are provided. The student must independently choose the nearest office and book a visit to VFS Global.
  • Countries where the offices of the external service provider VFS GLOBAL will be open: Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, Sa Kartvel, India, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Moldova, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Venezuela.

THE VSF GLOBAL OFFICES IS AUTHORIZED:

  • to provide clients with information on the procedure for issuing a temporary residence permit (TRP).
  • to accept applications and all required documents.
  • to collect personal and biometric data of applicants and transfer all data to the Migration Department.

The decisions on whether or not to issue a temporary residence permit will be taken only by the Migration Department of the Republic of Lithuania.

THE MAIN STEPS TO GET A TRP

Studies begin on the 1st of September. Student Registration Week takes place a week before.

Students must come to university and present the originals of all available education documents, health insurance and passport-type photograph.

During the Registration Week university’s representatives will provide you with all the necessary information.

Admission requirements

The admission procedure to the study programmes in English is based on the following RULES FOR ADMISSION OF STUDENTS TO THE LITHUANIAN UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES IN 2023 (Rules are reviewed each academic year, so minor changes are to be expected).

International students could be admitted into the English programme of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences if they provide the legalized high school or college certificate and transcript (officially translated into English) and pass the entrance test. Good knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and English is required.

All applicants must apply online and provide all documents required for admission. 

Holders of foreign qualifications who prefer to study in the Lithuanian language can be accepted to the state-funded study places in the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences or claim for scholarships in accordance with the procedures established by the applicable legislation in cases when:

  • They are citizens of the Republic of Lithuania or other member countries of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) ;
  • They are non-EU and non-EEA nationals granted a right of permanent residence in the Republic of Lithuania or they are stateless persons;
  • They are children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the Diaspora and people of Lithuanian origin (further the Diaspora and people of Lithuanian origin).

Foreign nationals and stateless persons who do not meet the required criteria listed above are accepted to study at higher education institutions with their own funds by taking part in the competition.

  • Certificate proving the knowledge of English language: TOEFL – minimum 65 points (iBT); IELTS – above 5.5 points; PTE Academic – minimum score of between 55 – 67, or other academic certificate confirming the knowledge of English language at minimum B1 level (CEFR) or similar
  • Motivation letter
  • Passport or ID
  • One passport-type photograph (3×4 cm)
  • Application fee 150 EUR (non-refundable)
  • Bachelor’s Degree Diploma (university’s level) approved by the governmental authorities (see below “Legalization of Education Documents”) in English or an authorized translation into English.   • Transcript of Academic Records provided directly from the former university (if it was issued in any other language than English, an authorized translation into English must be provided);

Legalization of Education Documents
Applicants who received their education in member countries of the Hague 1961 Convention (e.g. Israel, Italy, India, United Kingdom, USA, Australia, Venezuela, etc.) should have an attached Apostille to their educational documents. In most countries, the Apostille is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Ministry of Education.

The education documents of applicants who received their education in any other country (Lebanon, Jordan, Philippines, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, etc.) should be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the diplomatic mission or consular post of the country where education was received.

Recognition of Education Documents
Applicants must be eligible to study at the university based on the level of qualification from former education. High school matriculation or university diplomas are verified according to the required level of education and must pass validation of authenticity. The process is performed following the Procedure for Academic Recognition of Foreign Qualifications and Quality Assurance System for Decision-Making.

Entrance test

The test could be held in Kaunas during Open Days, or any other city worldwide (subject to the number of applicants). The qualified applicants will be invited to the entrance test by an admission officer (LSMU) or an official University representative outside Lithuania. In some cases the entrance test can be organized online. Applicants will be informed individually about the possibility to sit the online test.

 The entrance test has two steps: the interview and the test composed of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in Biology and Chemistry (30 questions each). The total time to complete the test is 90 minutes.

If applicants are not able to present a certificate proving the knowledge of English language (TOEFL, IELTS, B1 Level ‘Independent user’ by CEFR or adequate), they must sit the English language test, prepared by the University.

Exemptions from entrance test

The following applicants are exempted from LSMU entrance test:

1. Applicants who apply for the following programmes:

  • First Cycle (Bachelor’s) degrees: Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Health Psychology, Physiotherapy, Medical and Veterinary Genetics, Dental Hygiene; 
    Note: The admission to the above-listed study programmes will be based on the applicants‘ prior education grades in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics (Health Psychology only) and interview results. It is mandatory to sit the entrance test for applicants with no grades / low grades in the listed subjects. The university reserves a right to request to sit the entrance test due to the high competition in the above-listed study programmes.
  • Second Cycle (Master’s) degrees: Applied Public Health, Management of Public Health, Advanced Nursing Practice, Lifestyle Medicine, Food Science, Animal Science, Clinical Health Psychology, Animal and Human Interaction, Laboratory Medicine Biology, Medicinal Chemistry.

2. Applicants whose education is based on formally acknowledged educational systems listed below with minimum evaluation scores in Biology and Chemistry (Mathematics for Health Psychology study programme):

Migration requirements

You can come to Lithuania on a study or science basis. If you are a student, teacher or researcher and are going to stay in Lithuania for no longer than a year, you can get a national visa. If you intend to stay longer, you should opt for a temporary residence permit (it is usually issued for 1 year, for students, for researchers and for teachers – for 2 years, and can be renewed later). You may receive a national visa for the duration of consideration of your application for a temporary residence permit.

If you hold a valid temporary residence permit or national visa issued by another Member State of the European Union for the purpose of study and you are covered by a programme financed by the European Union or its Member States to promote the mobility of third-country nationals within the European Union or by an agreement between two or more higher education establishments, you may come to pursue a part of your studies and stay in the Republic of Lithuania for a maximum of 360 days without a visa, and you can work too.

In order to get your national visa D or TRP (Temporary residence permit) issued, you must apply to the Embassy of Lithuania or to external service provider’s visa application center – VFS.GLOBAL

FOREIGNERS CAN OBTAIN A TEMPORARY RESIDENCE PERMIT BEFORE COMING TO LITHUANIA

From 2 January 2023, foreigners wishing to obtain a temporary residence permit Lithuania (TRP) will be able to submit their applications in 34 different foreign countries at the VFS Global.

VFS Global offices services is available to all foreign nationals legally present in the country where a such services are provided.

Note: The mediation number from the University is obligatory to book an appointment at the VFS Global Center.

The VSF Global offices is authorized:

  • to provide clients with information on the procedure for issuing temporary residence permit (TRP).
  • to accept applications and all required documents.
  • to collect personal and biometric data of applicants and transfer all data to the Migration Department of the Republic of Lithuania.

The decisions on whether or not to issue a temporary residence permit will be taken only by the Migration Department of the Republic of Lithuania.

Mandatory fee – 60.00 EUR. The duration of the examination of the application is up to 3 months.

  • Once the Migration Department’s specialists have taken a decision to issue a temporary residence permit in Lithuania, the card produced will be sent abroad. Thus, the foreigner will arrive in Lithuania with a valid residence permit and will no longer need to obtain an additional visa.
  • If the foreigner has a visa entitling to come to Lithuania, or if he/she uses a visa-free regime. He/she will be able to collect the temporary residence permit (TRP) card at the Migration Office in Lithuania, when arrived to Lithuania.

VERY IMPORTANT: If the country is not part of the Hague Convention (click to check), all official documents must have double legalization, which means that documents must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the documents were issued and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania (or at the Embassy of Lithuania).
